by

We unequivocally condemn initiatives that run counter to the values of international law, reiterated the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from Bucharest, where he had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.

“My visit is unfortunately in the shadow of the Russian Federation’s decision the day before yesterday to unilaterally recognize the self-determined democracies in eastern Ukraine and send troops there,” he said, beginning his remarks in joint statements with the Romanian.

Mr. Mitsotakis noted that the expressions of revisionism endanger global security and stability.

The fundamental principle of Greece is the respect of national sovereignty, the prime minister added and added: “We are working with our partners for a common and substantial reaction.”

Mr. Mitsotakis again referred to the Greek community living in Ukraine, noting that the State is doing everything possible to support expatriates.

Referring to the supply of the country with natural gas, he reiterated that it will be done smoothly.

At the same time, he pointed out that three conclusions emerge from the crisis:

1. the transition to a green economy must not be slowed down, on the contrary it must be accelerated in a way that does not hurt households and businesses

2. It is important that there are exceptional support measures for European consumers

3. The debate on Europe’s military autonomy is becoming increasingly relevant
