Announcement of what saw the light of day today on Vgenopoulos case issued by the former president of the Supreme Court, Vasiliki Thanou.
In her announcement, Ms. Thanou, who had previously served as caretaker Prime Minister and a colleague of former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, points out that at a time when “all the essentials, whose prices are rising daily” some people are trying to disorient the citizens by involving her name in a corruption case.
In fact, Ms. Thanou states that she will exercise all her legal rights “against those who recycle the miserable slanders” against her “which were investigated and filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office, since 2016”.
The entire announcement issued by Ms. Thanou states:
“The answer to the reasonable question that arises in everyone, why now and after six (6) years), some people remembered to” resurrect “the miserable slander fabricated against me by the then controlled by Justice Andr. Vgenopoulos, is this: At a time when people are anxious about how to pay for electricity, oil, gasoline and all basic necessities, whose prices are rising daily, some, serving specific politicians, try to disorient them citizens from their serious daily problems, involving my name in a corruption case.
At the same time, they should be justified in this way, both internally and in the European Institutions, where these persons are very exposed, due to the criminal prosecutions against the Prosecutors and the journalists, who were investigating the corruption in the Novartis case and in the Lagarde List.
Obviously, they can not forget that during my forty years of service in Justice, I was one of those who never agreed to cover up corruption.
I reserve the right to immediately exercise all my legal rights against those who recycle the miserable slanders against me, which have been investigated and filed by the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office since 2016 “.
