The briefing by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the parliament members – members of the National Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament – took almost three hours. George Gerapetritis about developments in Greek-Turkish relations, after the visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Ankara and his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Speaking to the parliamentary editors after the end of the meeting, the foreign minister emphasized that Athens reacted immediately with quick reflexes to the provocative attitude of the president of North Macedonia, Gordana Silianowska.

He emphasized, in fact, that there was no other case with so many reactions within a few hours (Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council, as well as NATO, but even the State Department).

Mr. Gerapetritis explained that our country will ratify the memoranda with North Macedonia if, however, there is full compliance with it from the other side.

“I never said they would come within the year. I said my wish for them to come within my own term. We should first satisfy ourselves that there is full compliance with the Agreement. We say that they will come (the memoranda) when we have ensured that there is full compliance,” he emphasized.

However, at the beginning of the meeting, SYRIZA MP Rena Dourou asked for clarification from Dora Bakoyannis about her references to riots.

According to information, the ND MP explained that she referred to the KO of the ND (that they are not rioters) and not to SYRIZA MPs.
