On the occasion of the completion of 6 years since the signing of the Prespa Agreement
On June 17 and 18, on the occasion of the completion of 6 years (16/6/201818) from the signing of the Prespa Agreement, the “Alexis Tsipras Institute” and “Zoran Zaev Foundation” co-organize in Athens, International Conference on “Peace and Sustainable Development”.
The conference will take place at the Athens Conservatory and will include 8 discussion panels.
In particular, two topics on the Balkans and two on regional developments and the role of international organizations in promoting peace.
One topic will concern the climate crisis and the green agenda, one will concern the developments in the European and Greek economy and two will concern the future of Europe and dealing with the extreme right.
Personalities from the international, European, Balkan area and the wider region will participate, Prime Ministers, former Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers, European Commissioners, academics, distinguished scientists, Directors of Institutes, etc.
The ambition of the two co-organizers is for the “International Conference on Peace and Sustainable Development” to take place annually, every June, on the anniversary of its signing Treaty of Prespa and to be a solid initiative for the continued support and implementation of the Treaty, giving a strong message of peace against the nationalism that has proven so dangerous in the Balkans, Europe and the wider region.
As part of the Conference, a Peace Prize, the “Prize of Prespa”, will be awarded each year to a personality for their contribution to Peace.
The first prize will be awarded this year to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy Matthew Nimetz, for his long-standing contribution to peace.
