A harsh announcement was issued by SYRIZA on the occasion of today’s interview given by the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in SKAI.

In high tones, Koumoundourou launched an all-out attack on the government and personally on Mr. Mitsotakis, whom she characteristically said had “served” the citizens “a cocktail of lies, wishful thinking and confusion”, while she then identified New Democracy with the nationalist VMRO of North Macedonia.

The SYRIZA announcement in detail:

“A cocktail of lies, wishful thinking and confusion was “served” today by Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the citizens with his interview on SKAI TV.

Mr. Mitsotakis should realize, at some point, that he cannot convince the citizens that they live in a utopian society, because that is what the graphs they make for him show.

He should also start to respect citizens’ intelligence more and stop using lies as arguments, such as that the opposition has not said a word about Europe. Already in mid-March, SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance formulated comprehensive positions and goals for Europe, through its President, Stefanos Kasselakis, and is the only party that has done so.

In contrast, we have the condemnation of the country with the resolutions of the European Parliament on the issues of the rule of law and K. Mitsotakis boasting about the European orientation of his government. Has he understood anything of what is happening in Europe?

Unfortunately, the difficulty of understanding also concerns the interior of the country. Young people don’t go to restaurants and tourism for a living, because of the miserable working conditions, and Mr. Mitsotakis thinks he has faced unemployment! He boasts that he personally negotiated the Recovery Fund, essentially claiming the “credits” of financing just 0.02% of small and medium enterprises from its resources.

He talks about the safety of citizens by obsessively promoting the evacuation of squatters, while a woman was found this morning murdered in the middle of the street. Otherwise, wishful thinking, after a whole five years, for better policing and reference to many interventions “in progress”.
Of course, for the great accuracy experienced by the majority of society, Mr. Mitsotakis is thinking, after more than two years of high inflation, to send a letter to Mrs. Von der Leyen about the different prices in different markets of Europe.

On the issue of Greek-Turkish relations, Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of improvement citing the zero violations, when yesterday, one day after his visit to Ankara, we had 11 violations of the Athens FIR by Turkish fighter jets and helicopters. Turkey is undermining the Declaration of Athens and the government insists on maintaining an attitude of complacency and downplaying the challenges.

On the issue of the Prespa Agreement, he insists on not ratifying the memoranda it provides for, considering that obstruction on our part is the appropriate attitude towards the inconsistencies of the nationalists of the ND’s sister party, VMRO.

As for the character of the European elections, while he attributes national elements to them, he states that he is “forced” to raise the issue of “political legitimacy” of the government by the result.

There are many reasons to vote against the ND on June 9, but the main one is, as evidenced by the words of Mr. Mitsotakis, that neither at home nor in the European Union can he ensure and guarantee interventions for a better life. It is the positions and proposals of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance that can define such a path for the country and its citizens.”
