The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, spoke about the stakes of the European elections in the program “Today” on SKAI, while commenting on the statements of government officials of North Macedonia, he said that Greece will do what is foreseen if the Prespa Agreement is violated.

Asked to comment on the opinion polls and the ND’s lead, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that “I do not comment on opinion polls as they do not prejudge the result. However, they are good for the ND, but we have three weeks until the elections.”

Referring to the stakes of the upcoming elections, the Minister of Health said “governability is judged on June 9. If the result is below 30% and the next day the opposition will start questioning Mitsotakis, the climate will change, said Mr. Georgiadis.”

“And we make mistakes and there are problems, but there is no alternative government proposal” he emphasized at the same time.

“Until the last moment we are fighting to convince our fellow citizens, while he agreed that the ND is under pressure from “the right”, he added.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s statement about the Christian meter, the Minister of Health emphasized “Mr. Velopoulos tried to use the period of division as a tool and to make his citizens fight.”

Regarding the problems of everyday life of the citizens and to what extent they will affect the outcome of the European elections, Mr. Georgiadis noted that “taxation on Mitsotakis has decreased, people compared this issue to the national elections. If people had a worse time in 2023, they would not vote for Mitsotakis. The average salary is very high since 2019. Accuracy is a real problem and the government is making a lot of efforts to address it. Accuracy is a big problem. Let’s look at the big picture, in 2024 we will have a 15% increase in tourism income.”

“Greece today presents an image of stability with a stable government and positive publications. Stability is the first factor for the development of the economy,” said the Minister of Health.

Regarding the visit of the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, Mr. Georgiadis said that “Rama made the gathering because he got angry with Mitsotakis due to the candidacy of Fredis Beleris on the European ballot. He wanted to provoke. The ND’s European ballot paper is very good as the candidates are competent people.”

Mitsotakis will denounce the Prespa Agreement if it is violated

Asked about the statements of North Macedonian government officials, Mr. Georgiadis said that “there is no doubt that if Mitsotakis becomes prime minister and continues like this, Mitsotakis will denounce the Prespa Agreement. According to article 19 this is foreseen if there is a violation. If the government of North Macedonia violates the Agreement, the government of Greece will do what is foreseen.”

“The condition was not set by SYRIZA for North Macedonia to leave NATO if it violates the Agreement, it was for the sake of the USA. It is a bad agreement. The process of terminating the agreement is difficult,” added the Minister of Health.

Regarding the child’s death from parvovirus, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that “there is no cause for concern, there is no outbreak, the child’s death is an isolated incident.”
