“ND had not voted for the Prespa Agreement and had expressed serious reservations”
The prime minister gave it Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Veria, where he strolled through the main streets and addressed a gathering of citizens, in the presence of “blue” MEP candidates and the regional governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
“I am visiting Imathia once again and I see in your eyes the smile and optimism for our great victory on June 9. I am with you today, because I want to explain to you in simple words why the European elections are of great importance not only for what will happen in Europe, but for what will happen in Greece”, Mr. Mitsotakis initially pointed out.
Then, he referred to important Macedonian projects that bear the “imprint of Europe”, such as the new Museum in Aiges, the site of Philip and Alexander, while he made special mention of typical examples of the country’s cooperation with Europe.
“We were able to overcome the great crisis of the corona virus together, we also faced the refugee crisis, which I want to remind also tried the whole of Macedonia. We did all this, because Greece is not only not the scapegoat, but a country whose voice counts in Europe”, continued the Prime Minister.
“Free and online all tutoring courses for the children of the 3rd Lyceum”
“I am coming to you directly from the presentation of the “Digital School” by the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, at the Roots Day School of Imathia. We have already put up 20,000 interactive whiteboards and by the end of the year we will have 36,000, courtesy of the Recovery and Resilience Fund,” while explaining what the new Digital School signifies.
“From September, 3rd Lyceum children from remote areas will now be able to attend tutoring all the examined courses, free of charge and online, to support the Greek region and the families who are tested by accuracy”.
Then, he recalled the immigration policy he has been following for the last 5 years.
“We convinced Europe to support a policy of safe border guarding. That’s why we are building the fence on the Evros so that everyone knows that Greece is not an open vine so that we determine who enters the territory and not every wretched smuggler.”
“ND had not voted for the Prespa Agreement and had expressed serious reservations”
The prime minister did not fail to mention the new government of North Macedonia.
“Regarding the outstanding issues that have recently arisen with our northern neighbor, I would like to be absolutely clear from the heart of Macedonia:
ND had not voted for the Prespa Agreement and had expressed serious reservations when it was ratified in the Greek parliament. But we had said – and I never kid you – that once this Agreement is passed, this agreement cannot be changed and we will be forced to respect it despite its problems. And that’s what we did.
But if some people think that they might on their part not respect the Agreement, they will know two things: First, that their road to Europe will remain closed. And that the memoranda which we have to ratify will not be ratified until there is complete compliance by the new government with what the Agreement provides.
Without extremes, without many voices, with the necessary rigor and seriousness with which the Greek government approaches all these issues” concluded Mr. Mitsotakis.
“We apologize for the postal vote”
“Wherever I go our base is rallying and it is important to fight abstention in the European elections in June,” he said then and continued:
“Here I want to say that a choice we made ourselves as ND MPs, the postal vote, is justified. This is a great victory for our democracy, Greeks outside of Greece are now voting from the Arctic to Papua New Guinea. But Greeks within the borders are also facilitated: from our disabled fellow citizens, the elderly to students who give Panhellenics, who do not want to get up and drag themselves to the ballot box.”
