Daily life, economy and national issues make up the canvas of the government’s priorities, based on the ND program with which it was elected in the national elections and is already implementing, and not only the current pre-election period, which is a good opportunity to communicate this policy to all citizens, from blue-collar executives but also to the prime minister himself who is ahead in the battle of the ballot box.

In this climate and with these goals, Kyriakos Mitsotakis after Thessaloniki he continues his tour today in Northern Greece and visits the Region of Western Macedonia, which is traditionally “painted” blue on the electoral map with high percentages, which in the previous national elections had exceeded 38%. But also a region where, despite the downward trend of the unemployment indicators in the country, in Western Macedonia the highest unemployment rates are recorded, mainly among women, among people aged up to 24 years, and among people who have completed up to a few grades of primary school.

In the morning the prime minister will tour and meet with local institutions and citizens in Velvedo and Servia, while at noon he will visit the city of Kozani, in the afternoon Florina and will end up in Kastoria.

From Western Macedonia, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to focus and mention the important projects that are developing in the region such as the E65 highway which will reform road transport to Western Thessaly and Western Macedonia, giving a boost to trade, tourism and agricultural production. The E65 will connect the port of Igoumenitsa – which acts as Greece’s gateway to Central Europe – with the port of Volos, facilitate international passenger and freight transport from Greece to Western and Central Europe and offer an alternative route, which is shorter than the existing one. The development model of the region, in the post-lignite era, remains at the center of the prime minister’s and government’s policy.

Although, in any case, the opinion polls show that at this level the government seems to be achieving the goal of 33%, which it has set for the upcoming European elections, and the messages are encouraging, Piraeus and Megaro Maximou are not complacent. Why, the goal is a new clear mandate, a clear message of stability and continuity of government policy “for the big changes that the country needs” as the prime minister emphatically states in his pre-election speeches, setting the stakes of the elections. In the last twenty days remaining until the polls open, the prime minister and all top and local ND officials, from one end of Greece to the other, will continue the campaign with the central slogan of stability and highlighting its multi-level policies ND for the improvement of the everyday life of the citizens as well as the position of the country internationally.

After all, all these elements are combined by the Prime Minister’s initiative to turn to the EU. with the letter he sent to the President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen in order to put a “European brake” on the profiteering tactics of multinationals at the expense of the consumers of Greece and other European countries.

“We have to face more permanent and structural problems of the operation of competition, not only in the Greek market but also in the European markets. And there, the collective power of the European Union, of the European family, is very important” remarked the Minister of State Akis Skertsos, referring to the Greek Prime Minister’s move.

In fact, Mr. Skertsos underlined the fact that “the Greek prime minister shows that he takes brave initiatives, he does not consider the political costs” and attacked the opposition parties, which he characterized as captive to the interests of big business and multinationals. “I have not seen any other government in the past, of the Center Left or the Left, standing up to the multinationals. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is doing it, who is a pragmatist and a responsible patriot. He knows how to use the European tools where they have to, to can work in favor of protecting the incomes of consumers and European citizens” concluded the Minister of State.
