Derek Fisher: “I can imagine how impressive a full OAKA will be”

by

Impressions of his presence in Greece and the OAKA was carried by Derek Fisher speaking to Club 1908.

The NBA coach said he enjoyed the opportunity he had to live closely, stressing that this would be crowded quite impressive.

In detail what he said:

– Coach, thank you for being with us! Do you like Athens?

“So far it’s great. It is very beautiful to be on the pitch today, with local players and children from Greece and Europe who love basketball. I’m looking forward to the weekend and see a few more things from Athens. ”

– What are the first impressions of Glass Floor and workouts here at OAKA?

“I love it! I love it! I had only seen it on social media. So I hadn’t seen up close how these stadiums are. I enjoyed it! Not only as a design fan, but also functionally as good as a wooden parquet. I enjoyed the experience. ”

– Did you enjoy the stadium?

“Yes, I didn’t know exactly which stadium we would come. I could only imagine how impressive it is to watch a race live here, with people filling up what platforms. ”

– Do you want to take a quick look?

“Yes, yes! This is fantastic! This is the best. ”

– Do you recognize the player with No22? “No, I only saw his back.”

– It’s Jerian Grand, who was your player in New York Knicks.

“Is this Jerian? Truth; It’s fantastic. I didn’t know he was playing here. It’s nice. I have to follow him now. To watch him. ”

– Beyond that, what are the first emotions here with the trenchwork sports in Athens. A great way to work with young kids, right?

“Yes, many young kids around the world have a dream of playing professionally. Whether it’s at Euroleague or NBA. Anywhere. They have love and passion for the game. Opportunities like these here, at the Trenchwork Sports Camp, where you can come and share things, try to offer support, tips, thoughts. Also, my love and passion for the game, to share it with other people. These help to grow up the game worldwide and I am happy to be here. ”

– One last question, how much do you think the game has changed since the time you played? Back in the 90s and 00s, compared to now in the NBA and in the European Play?

“I think you have to be able to play in many places in the attack. Also, defend yourself in many places. That’s what I think has changed the most. If you are a point guard in 2000 you would not necessarily end up marking Yannis Antetokounbos or Luca Doncic or LeBron James, as if your position is. Now, the teams are running the attacks in a way that push you to mark many players. If you can’t do it, it’s hard to play. Also in the attack, being able to shoot the ball is so important, as well as being able to make decisions. The point guard used to be the one who lowers the ball to the court, now everyone can put the ball into the parquet. The game has changed to many good levels, allows more players to “get involved” in the game and play good team basketball. ”

– Would you like to mark John?

“I personally, no. Not at the moment. My body feels good, I don’t think the body is good after it marks John, so I’m fine here. ”
