By a vast majority the bill of the Ministry of National Defense entitled “Establishment of a Hellenic Center for Defense Innovation, modernization of the institutional framework of the Supreme Military Educational Institutions, establishment of a Joint Informatics Corps in the Armed Forces and other provisions” was accepted by the plenary session of the Parliament. ND, SYRIZA-PS, PASOK-Movement of Change, and KO Spartiates voted “for” the principle of the bill, KKE, Hellenic Solution, New Left and Niki voted “against”, while Pleussi declared “present” Freedom.
In his closing speech, the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias declared that he was open to continuous information of the parties on armaments, noting that in the coming days there will be a relevant discussion in the parliamentary committee on Armaments Programs. As he said, in this meeting “we will discuss the Constellation (class frigates), we will discuss the (fighter jets) F-35 and we will also discuss the launch of the submarine program, which [..] it’s a long time”.
“The submarines are not being delivered tomorrow morning. It is clear, however, that it does not we can allow the balance in the Aegean to be overturnedand to be precise, under the sea” noted the Minister of Defense.
