Fifteen days before the polls open, the balances, as they have been recorded in recent months, have not changed

The last debate of the political leaders before the European elections took place yesterday in the Parliament. 15 days before the polls open, the balances, as they have been recorded in recent months, have not changed. Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the Plenary brought out on behalf of New Democracy the confidence and the air of primacy that he possesses. He focused on the issue of accuracy and the moves the government has made to strengthen the purchasing power of citizens, avoiding to answer the opposition’s questions about the Tempi dossier that reached Parliament, the wiretapping, the leaks of emails from the Ministry of Interior even for Greek-Turkish. The majority can and does determine the political agenda and this is what Kyriakos Mitsotakis wanted to make clear.
The prime minister in his two speeches, after not digressing, chose his opponent from time to time, answering not only to Sokratis Famellos, but also to Nikos Androulakis. He clashed once again with both Zoe Konstantopoulou and Kyriakos Velopoulos.
In the “battle” between the two “big” opposition parties the “scale” tilted more in favor of PASOK with Nikos Androulakis raising his voice more against Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Sokratis Famellos asked many questions to the prime minister making a “treasure” in his deputation for the answers he did not get. Stefanos Kasselakis also made interventions outside the Parliament at DEDDIE where he was, but also through social media. The conflict between the government and SYRIZA focused on the costing of the main opposition’s program, a debate that will continue in the coming days. The blue faction is once again attempting to blame SYRIZA for the “Thessalonica program syndrome”, a tactic that has proven to have resonance. The feta and the oil was a field of fierce opposition, a fact that testifies that the battle of everyday life will be tough in the short time left. Half a kilo or a kilo of cheese or olive oil, the government and official opposition became “tangles of hair” in the Parliament, but also outside with announcements.
As a whole, the opposition parties believe that Maximos’ weak point in this election race is accuracy in the market. There they will focus on the tours they will organize forming an informal front. According to many, this is the “key” in order to get disillusioned voters to the polls and at the same time strengthen the protest vote against the government. Even from New Democracy supporters who want to ring a “bell” in their party that will not cost them power.
Outside the Plenary Session, the leaders are now taking the game upon themselves, focusing the next period significantly on the basin of Attica, where half the population of the country is located. Cross-channel interviews of party leaders will be scheduled, while staffs are already preparing for the last week’s election rallies.
