Multiple interruptions, drugged rebuttals, but also messages to the audiences of their voters, included the positions of the political leaders during yesterday’s pre-order debate on accuracy in the Parliament, with the nine presidents of the parliamentary groups crossing their swords, just two weeks before the opening of the Eurocalp. The debate, which lasted over nine hours, began with the speech of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and ended, after two rounds of speeches by all the leaders of the parties, with the fan opening, and apart from the accuracy, all the burning things were brought to the table topical issues, with the meeting taking on the characteristics of an informal debate.
Mitsotakis: Obligation to put bankruptcy behind us once and for all
The Prime Minister from the floor of the Parliament repelled the opposition fire about “Mitsotakis accuracy”, dispelling one by one the myths that – according to him – the opposition cultivates, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis clarifying that the confrontation with the problem of accuracy is an absolute policy priority of the government. “My first obligation towards the country is to put bankruptcy behind us once and for all, and this ultimately means convergence with Europe, repeated Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his second appeal, moving on to the counterattack against the measures for the economy proposed by SYRIZA, putting in ” cadre” both the leader of the official opposition as well as Nikos Androulakis, Kyriakos Velopoulos and Zoe Konstantopoulou.
“45 billion euros, the four years are worth what you are betting. no, this is the Thessaloniki program. You have learned nothing from your mistakes. What you propose implies only one word: Bankruptcy and indeed without return”, pointed out Mr. Mitsotakis, pointing his arrows towards Koumoundourou, with him also responding to the objections of the leader of PASOK, regarding the country’s deviation from Europe: ” Who is the main opponent of a new Development Fund in Europe today, Mr. Androulakis? This is Mr. Soltz. So get busy convincing your German counterparts and then come and explain to us if our country deviates. Ms. Merkel agreed to the recovery fund, Mr. Scholz today disagrees.”
However, at the beginning of his rebuttal, he also referred to the first half of 2015, picking up the gauntlet that had been thrown to him a few minutes earlier by Zoe Konstantopoulou: “We then bore the political costs to correct the mistakes of Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Varoufakis. You tell us with great passion that you democratically represent the citizens, but I remember that you despised your own voters and changed the order of election of your candidates”
Criticism of the whole matter from the opposition
Sokratis Famellos severely criticized the government on a number of issues from accuracy and the economy, to national issues and the rule of law issues, asking the prime minister to answer if he would support SYRIZA’s proposal for the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee for the train accident in Tempi, after the transmission of the relevant case file to the Parliament. Referring to the economy, he accused the prime minister of “first excellence” in accuracy, calling on the ND to reduce the money owed by the party: “if you are so committed to fiscal fidelity, the 500 million in loans and debts of your party why don’t you reduce them?” Nikos Androulakis accused the Prime Minister of deviating from Europe, arguing that the measures for the economy are ineffective, characterizing Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ letter to Ursula von der Leyen as a “weapon of last resort”. “The letter to the Commission on the pricing of multinationals is a confession of failure,” stressed the president of PASOK.
The shoes with the “pink” sun
However, the ND’s new shoes were a new area of friction with Harilaou Trikoupi, since Nikos Androulakis chose to open his position with reference to them: “I was expecting the Prime Minister to come to the Parliament hall today with his new shoes, but since that it seems he was not tempted.” “You were the first to give us the idea of the shoes with the green sun. However, if I wanted to design a shoe today for PASOK in 2024 as expressed by the Parliament from you, I would design a shoe with the sun but the sun would be pink”, the prime minister emphasized, attributing an identification between PASOK and SYRIZA.
