Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was accompanied by his wife Mareva Grabovski – while the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tassoulas, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni and the Regional Governor of Epirus Alexandros Kahrimanis were present at the meeting

During the meeting, the prime minister pointed out: “The registration of Zagori in the UNESCO World Heritage List is for us a moment of joy, but also of vindication. I had already supported this request since September 2019 from here in Vitsa. Today, it is a living reality. We said it and we did it. An important development, which is the fruit of a collective effort.

The inclusion of Zagori in the UNESCO List is not just an honor for our country. It is equivalent to a practical commitment to protect the region from the modern threats arising from the climate crisis, but also from human interventions. That is why the new bet is to preserve the identity and authenticity of the place.”
