Forehead against toxicity and fake news which are escalating as the time for the polls of June 9 is running out, Megaro Maximos and Piraeus are standing up as they see government policy being hit more and more by these two phenomena of the pre-election political scene.

With the leader and the executives of SYRIZA as the protagonist, government officials estimate that Koumoundourou’s strategy aimed at hurting the government is reflected in repeated attacks either with false facts or with fictions, which poses risks for the country itself. This is a dangerous and irresponsible – according to the same officials – opposition exercise, lack of alternative proposal and arguments, which in the past had created dangerous and disorderly conditions in society.

A tangible example is the Maximos Palace the “war of the slice” which began with the discussion of the political leaders in the Parliament on Friday and culminated during the weekend, between the government and SYRIZA. “This is a matter of deceiving the voters with lies and slanders” commented government officials, revealing the intentions of Megaros Maximos not to let not only the officials of SYRIZA but every other opposition party follow the same tactics, to deceive the citizens and throw mud against it government and the policies it practices, at the altar of vote hunting.

The video posted by the president of SYRIZA looking in supermarkets for a slice of feta that costs 6.28 euros per kilo, in order to show that Kyriakos Mitsotakis did not tell the truth in Parliament, mobilized government officials as the Prime Minister’s report and the document he submitted to the minutes of the Parliament did not refer to the price per kilogram of the slice, but stated that the comparison with other European countries is made in the half-kilo package. The claims of Stefanos Kasselakis were the first to reject in high tones, via tiktok, the government representative who described the president of SYRIZA as a “political fraud” and presented the evidence that proves that he tried “to fool the citizens and at the end of the day, except his ridicule was also shown by products that have an even lower price on the shelf”.

The response of the Minister of State was also harsh Akis Skertsou, with his post on Facebook, who spoke about gross lies and repeated backhandedness of the SYRIZA president. “Like the worst old-fashioned snitch, you have two options: either admit it and apologize directly, or at least shut up and bow your head. You don’t answer with too much audacity and with new lies” commented Mr. Skertsos. It was mentioned, and in another attempt by Mr. Kasselakis regarding the prices of products in the market “for the prices of oil and feta (where he initially compared dissimilar products and then dissimilar prices and packaging) it shows something worse than irrelevance. It shows that he is ruthless and brazen. And therefore dangerous. And it is indeed a shame that SYRIZA becomes the tail of the Greek Solution and its leader in mockery and fake news” concluded the Minister of State in his post.

Under these circumstances and considering that as the Sunday of the European elections approaches, similar attempts against the government will increase, Megaro Maximos and Piraeus are on “alert” so that any such attempt to mislead and spread false news, is “intercepted” immediately and with evidence, so that there is no room for misinterpretation. As the prime minister himself noted in his interview with Real, “SYRIZA may have changed its leader, but it has not changed its mentality”.

On the other hand, it becomes clear from the government’s side, that the situation in the market in terms of accuracy is in the full knowledge of the government, and that is where its interventions have been focused throughout the previous period to intercept prices, which is recognized that affect all households and especially the most vulnerable, and the increase in citizens’ incomes.

“No one claims that the products are cheap, but that’s one thing and mockery is another” government sources noted. After all, accuracy was and remains at the top of the government’s agenda not only for the current pre-election period, and in addition to the interventions that are being made and will be made and others if necessary, the corresponding proposals of SYRIZA, which according to the government they have no countermeasures, but instead endanger what has been built and return the country to bankruptcy again.
