At Brussels there is the foreign minister George Gerapetritis for the Council of competent ministers.

Coming to the Council of Foreign Affairs (CFA) he noted in relation to Middle East that “all hostilities must be stopped immediately, the hostages must be released, we must work for additional humanitarian corridors, we must work for a two-state solution that is common ground for us”.

“I will propose a joint task force, including ministers from both the Arab states and the EU who will be able to address both parties so as to ensure effective negotiations for immediate peace. Tomorrow may be too late under these conditions” added Giorgos Gerapetritis.

Specifically, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated:

“In the midst of two wars, the EU needs to take additional initiatives, strong, tangible to express solidarity towards peace and prosperity.

As far as Ukraine is concerned, we need to take further initiatives to express our solidarity with Ukraine. This is not just a war for territorial integrity or sovereignty. It is a war which recognizes the need for the rule of international law and the condemnation of any revisionism, and we can see how this diffusion could be applied to Europe.

In relation to the Middle East, we will have the honor of hosting five ministers of Arab states and the secretary general of the Arab League. It is a unique opportunity to coordinate our activity.

I believe that we all agree in the essence of our policy that all hostilities must be stopped immediately, the hostages must be released, we must work for additional humanitarian corridors, we must work for a two-state solution that is common ground for us.

At the same time, we need to strengthen the Palestinian Authority.

In addition, I will propose a joint task force, including ministers from both the Arab states and the EU who will be able to address both parties so as to ensure effective negotiations for immediate peace. Tomorrow may be too late under these conditions.’
