“It proves once again how right we were when we asked Mr. Mitsotakis to dismiss N. Kerameos”, comments SYRIZA PS regarding the announcement of the imposition of a fine by the APDPH on Anna Asimakopoulou and the Ministry of the Interior.

In particular, SYRIZA states in its announcement that “the Authority for the Protection of Personal Data announced today, Monday 27/5/24, the imposition of a fine of 40,000 Euros on ND MEP Anna Michele Asimakopoulou, and 400,000 Euros on the Minister of the Interior – which the citizens will pay for – for the scandal of the leak of the personal data of thousands of foreign voters, while he postponed the issuance of a decision for the New Democracy party after its request for a postponement in order to provide additional data”.

SYRIZA reports that “as described in the decision, it is proven again that the personal data of the voters became a ‘ball’ for months between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, ND and at least one MEP candidate”. He notes that “it proves once again how right we were when we asked Mr. Mitsotakis to dismiss N. Kerameos, who of course did not dare to appear at the Institutions and Transparency Committee to give explanations before the suspension of the work of the Parliament”.

SYRIZA asks again: “To whom else (apart from M. Asimakopoulou who received them on 20/1/2024) has the Secretary of Immigration of the ND handed over the personal data of the voters?”. He comments that he does not expect an answer, “just as we have received none so far about the illegal surveillance by the EYP with the Predator. As we have not received either about the Tempe crime and its cover-up operation. And as we don’t expect them to answer us because very recently a member of parliament and ND executives awarded the elected tax official”.
