“The American network has not contacted the Greek authorities”
The refutation of his publication was categorical CBS News by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Dimitris Kairidesin which there is talk of the initiative of USA for transportation immigrants from Latin America to Greece and Italy.
Specifically, Mr. Kairides emphasized to 100.3 that this is a false publication, clarifying that the American network has not contacted the Greek authorities in order to ask for their opinion.
“We are in a pre-election period, it is not a politically dead time, some may want to make an impression”, said the minister characteristically, saying that in addition to the said refutation on the radio, he will also publish a refutation on social media of both the same and and the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.
Then Dimitris Kairides said:
“The CBS report is untrue. There is neither an agreement nor a request from the US to resettle legal immigrants in Greece. Greek immigration policy is clear and effective, despite international difficulties.
Strict border protection, with respect for the law and human life, and combating illegal trafficking and, at the same time, bilateral labor mobility agreements with friendly countries to cover gaps in the labor market and attract talent to promote the country in international research and technology centre.
Our policy brings results as reflected in the low occupancy of the national reception and identification system, especially in the structures of the Eastern Aegean islands, and the success of the travel visa facilitation program for legal Turkish visitors there, as a result of our increased credibility in the European Join”.

What CBS reports in the US
The American network CBS News in its report talked about a plan by the administration of Joe Biden to refer immigrants from Latin America for resettlement in Greece and Italy, on the sidelines of trying to discourage these people in the region from traveling to the US border – of Mexico.
Under the plan as reported by CBS, Greece and Italy would join Canada and Spain in resettling some of those being processed at the offices. One of the sources said Italy and Greece would likely take in a relatively small number of migrants, around 500 or less each.
