The three goals of Russian President Vladimir Putin from the war in Ukraine, which are neutrality and disarmament of the country and expulsion of President Zelensky, were analyzed by Angelos Syrigos, professor of International Law and Deputy Minister of Education, speaking on SKA TV today.
In more detail, the professor stated:
First goal Putin’s view is that Ukraine as a whole should be considered neutral. This is a disarmament regime, usually imposed in countries that have lost a war. It is the demilitarization that the Russian president spoke about and it means disarmament, that is, it will not have troops.
Second goal is to ensure that Ukraine will not join any coalition, that is, it will have a regime like Switzerland which has been in force since 1815. It should be noted, however, that Switzerland has an army.
Third goalis the so-called de-Naziization that Putin spoke about and the expulsion of the Nazis from power, meaning as a Nazi the legally elected president of the country Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukraine is currently fighting alone, let us keep that in mind
Angelos Syrigos emphasized that Ukraine is currently fighting alone and stressed that we should keep this in mind in Greece as well, so that we know well that “Luxembourg Marines will not come to fight in Kastelorizo, we will fight.” .
According to the professor, there is an authoritarian regime in Turkey as in Russia and the leaders of the two countries have the same perception.
Pointing out that these are two different sizes, as Erdogan’s potential is the scourge of the Russians, while Greece is not Ukraine, he made some parallels, very characteristic of the actions of the two leaders.
- Putin wants to correct the historic mistake he believes was made by the Soviet Union with the creation of Ukraine. He believes that there is no Ukraine.
Erdogan believes that there is no Republic of Cyprus
- Putin regrets the dissolution of the Soviet Union and tries to rebuild the Soviet space under Russia.
Erdogan regrets the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and wants to resurrect it.
- Putin wants to correct Lenin’s historic mistake
Erdogan dreams of correcting Kemal’s historic mistake with the Treaty of Lausanne.
- Putin violates the Minsk Treaties and international law
Erdogan violates the law of the sea and international law
- Putin wants demilitarization of Ukraine
Erdogan wants demilitarization of the islands.
