“I am not thinking of leaving the ND presidency any time soon – No discussion of taking a position in Europe”
After all, an interview was granted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who was hosted on Monday morning on the show “Happy Day» to Alpha and the Stamatina Tsimtsilis.
Mr. Mitsotakis underlined that the “hypological thread” that connects Stefanos Kasselakis with Alexis Tsipras is toxicity and unsettled promises.
Watch the first part of the interview:
At first, pointed out that the European elections they have their own special significance because what will happen in Europe in the coming years concerns us all.
“We are electing 21 Greek MEPs, first and foremost people who wear the shirt of “National Greece” and then the party shirt. It saddens me that in national policies we cannot find common ground, as for example happened with the issue of accuracy and multinationals. We are now setting the agenda for the future of Europe, that is why we have now sent the letter to Ursula von der Leyen.”
In fact, at that moment he ruled out any possibility of succeeding von der Leyen in the presidency of the Commission, characteristically stating that “even if I am offered, I will refuse”.
“Mr. Kasselakis should have already submitted an appeal – Citizens do not want a new “apprentice magician””
“In the double elections of May and June, we managed to increase our percentage, 41% is not a percentage of arrogance, it was given to us by the citizens themselves, we did not steal it. It is not a blank check, the viewers will judge whether the accusation of arrogance is true”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis then commented, while when asked about the president of SYRIZA he said:
“It is his right to govern as he wants. My job is to judge his program, which costs 45.8 billion over four years. If it were implemented, we would be back in a surveillance regime.”
In addition, he added that “the citizens do not want an apprentice magician who acts like in the past”, while he also commented on the issue of where the president of the main opposition is related to.
“Pothen esshes should not be a subject of discussion, every leader must submit it. Mine has been known and controlled for 20 years. My wife was hounded furiously for hers, tax audited to an excruciating degree. We will see how Mr. Kasselakis will present his case in a public speech.”
Regarding the possibility of leaving the ND leadership, he emphasized that “I am not thinking about it any time soon, I have 3 years of fruitful prime ministership”.
“It’s shameless that Tempi is used as a tool by political parties – We didn’t do that with Mati”
About the tragedy at Tempe, the prime minister said that “justice will be delivered as soon as possible but without haste. We have 34 accused, the state has done everything in its power to facilitate the investigation.
For those who believe that there are criminal political responsibilities, the Parliament is ready to discuss it. My own duty is to let justice do its job and not exploit the pain of relatives as other parties have shamelessly done. We never did anything like this with the tragedy in Mati,” calling the insinuations of a cover-up a “shame.”
Regarding the “My Home” program, he said that there remains a finalization of negotiations with the EU on the loans we can get from the Recovery fund to expand it to couples aged 40-50 and soon announcements will be made about the program that will run after the European elections.
Watch the second part of the interview:
The prime minister then referred to their platforms social mediawhich “target the addiction of young users and we have to do something about it”.
“The next step will include regulatory initiatives to curb online addiction among young people and teenagers. I’m afraid we’re doing an experiment with young people and teenagers. Europe has the possibility to intervene procedurally. The platforms serve us what they think we are interested in, but there is the possibility from the platforms themselves that this does not happen and the browsing starts from scratch”, he pointed out.
“I would like to lead this effort at a pan-European level. Europe, I believe, will be at the forefront as it was with GDPR and with the issue of Artificial Intelligence,” he concluded.
‘I was disturbed by the attack on my wife – It affected her too’
Asked afterwards which of the fake news he has heard bothered him the most, he said “what bothered me is the attack on my wife that was orchestrated and continues to this day. My wife sued an opposition member of parliament for smearing her. I support her and told her that I will testify as a witness in the trial. I am sorry that this debate continues unabated in today’s SYRIZA. What we call polarization with intense misogyny, fake news and toxicity continues.”
“We had a hard time and it affected her as well. Mareva is tough but all people have their strengths. He has nothing to apologize for. She put her career on the back burner. She found a new professional activity that she was sure would not cause me a problem No and get blamed and fired as has been done systematically since 2016 and continues unabated. Mareva is the voice that keeps me grounded,” he continued about his wife, adding:
“We’re doing really well, we’re happy about our kids moving on with their lives, we’re having a good time together, we’re happy for each other and we’re enjoying each other’s company.”
