The integration of postal votes for Sunday’s European elections reaches 88%, confirming expectations for a large turnout of those who registered to vote, for the first time, in this way.
According to information, by midday today more than 177,800 votes had been received from a total of 202,515 registered, while since the beginning of the week, when the deadline for mailing the special envelope expired, the integration has increased by more than 32,000 votes.
The collection of sent envelopes will continue until 17:00 on Saturday.
Officials of the Ministry of the Interior reported that participation is particularly high both among voters who are outside Greece, where it stands at 83.5%, and in the case of those who are inside Greece, where it exceeded 89.2%.
It is recalled that Greeks living in countries such as Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, El Salvador, Kazakhstan and the Ivory Coast have registered on the platform to participate in the postal elections, i.e. countries in which no electoral division was established in the parliamentary elections of 2023 due to the restrictions in force.
Therefore, the June 9 polls are the first time that all Greeks abroad, regardless of their place of residence, will be able to vote without any restrictions.
