THE Israeli army placed under his full operational control Philadelphia Corridor, a border zone along the Gaza Strip’s border with Egypt, Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed correspondent of the Qatari network reported on Friday afternoon.
According to the information, the Israeli army is now in full control of the Corridor from the Kerem Shalom pass to the Mediterranean coast.
Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed’s report comes as the IDF has expanded its operations in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, including the town of Rafah in southern Gaza.
On Wednesday, the Israeli military announced that it had located and destroyed a tunnel approximately two kilometers long in the southern part of the Strip which had reached as far as the Philadelphia Corridor.
The Philadelphia Corridor is a narrow 14 km strip of land along the border that the Israeli military patrolled inside the Palestinian enclave prior to its unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005. after 38 years of possession.
