“The unprecedented high abstention and the rise of the Far Right are the two strong messages of the ballot box. It thus appears that a large portion of the world realizes that the political system has turned its back on them. As a young politician, I will in no way accept such a negative development, for this reason I will fight with all my strength, so that politics inspires”, were the first words of the president of PASOK, Nikos Androulakiswho shortly before midnight came out of his offices in Harilaou Trikoupi to give his own assessment of the Euro referendum.

“The shift to the Far Right and to irrationality should concern us, above all the government that fostered this, systematically degrading the rule of law, respect for human rights and trust in the Greek Justice system,” said the president of PASOK .

He then underlined that in these elections the ND suffered a heavy defeat, “since it has lost 14 points from the bar of the National Elections and 5 from that of the previous European Elections. The disdain she showed for a number of everyday issues, such as the housing crisis, the National Health System”, adding that “her arrogance, her indecency and her corruption were punished”.

“It is our duty to continue with dynamism the serious and reliable opposition, to pave the way for a progressive governance in Greece. I will, therefore, take all the necessary initiatives with the truly progressive forces of the country”, while he concluded by noting that in the third election in a row “we increased our percentages, broke the blue domination of the ND on the map and became the second power in 19 Regions of country”.
