In a new moving message, Mr elected MEP her of New Democracy, Fredis Beleris, addressing a “thank you” to the prime minister for his support.

“Ladies and friends, First of all I want to thank the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for his emotional support in my fight for the rights of Northern Mainland Hellenism and the opportunity he gave me to be a candidate in these European elections. And I and my family will never forget what he did for us,” he says.

“All these months of my adventure, I was strengthened by my faith that light always wins over darkness. And that the power of the Republic can sweep away any coup d’état. We fought and won a battle for Democracy, the rule of law, the freedoms and dignity of citizens. But at the same time, a battle for the European acquis, for the principles and values, which must be shared by whoever wants to have a place in the European family” points out Mr. Beleris.

In detail it states:

“Ladies and friends, I want to first of all thank the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for his emotional support in my fight for the rights of Northern Hellenism and the opportunity he gave me to be a candidate in these European elections. My family and I will never forget what he did for us.

During all these months of my adventure, I was strengthened by my belief that light always wins over darkness. And that the power of the Republic can sweep away any coup d’état. We fought and won a battle for Democracy, the rule of law, the freedoms and dignity of citizens. But at the same time a battle for the European acquis, for the principles and values, which must be shared by whoever wants to have a place in the European family.

I want to thank each and every one of you who honored me with your vote. My family who became my support and voice during this period. The friends all over Greece who stood by my side in the most difficult test of my life. A mosaic of support and volunteers who wrote history fighting for a sacred cause: the freedom and pride of Hellenism.

To my brothers from the Greek ethnic minority, I want to say that from today we can feel stronger. And to every fellow citizen that as an MEP I will work hard to be useful to my faction, the New Democracy and above all to our Homeland.

Finally, I want to express a special thank you from the bottom of my heart to two special people, Angelos Syrigos and Stavros Papastavrou who, for the 395 days that I have been in prison, have always been by my side and that of my family.”
