“The simple assessment is that we did not succeed in being the second party and we have to see what went wrong,” said the PASOK MP about the party’s electoral result in the European elections
An overall assessment of the election result was made by Pavlos Geroulanos MP of PASOK – KINAL who was a guest on the show “Mismatches” on SKAI, stressing that the abstention combined with an anti-systemic percentage that went to small parties, creates a framework for discrediting the political system.
“In a few words, the citizen is turning his back on us,” he pointed out characteristically and added that as it turns out “the world is not inspired by what it sees and concerns all of us”.
On the issue of leadership in PASOK raised by Mr. Konstantinopoulos, he emphasized that “the right thing, when you have not achieved your goals, is to go to the organs with specific proposals and not for everyone to come out and speak. It will not lead to a specific path”, he added, however, that as “every written proposal that will lead to the strengthening of the party is welcome”.
Asked to comment on the party’s result and who is responsible, Mr. Geroulanos emphasized that this is not what he will say to the organs.
The second message, he noted, is that “the 41% is coming to an end” which, as he said, “Mr. Mitsotakis also admitted, but without making his self-criticism, as he did not put himself among those who “look down”. The mentality of the ND is profoundly arrogant,” he said.
The third issue is that Greece does not “sting” from the social life style. “We have seen the percentage of Mr. Kasselakis, it is not impressive. I will never underestimate it. Because I had underestimated Trump and I was wrong.”
The simple assessment is that we failed to be second party and we have to look at what went wrong.
Part of the assessment is to see where we did better and where we didn’t and why. This assessment must be done within the institutions because this is how we ensure the next day. If we start pointing fingers at each other, then it will go into the next election divided.
Asked about the post which he did, he himself said he would not have published it if he had not been challenged by spikes for Athens, in which the party came 4th. As he said, “if the deputies of Attica are targeted, the answer is that the first district of Athens is the region that brought a large percentage”.
In the question, if he himself will be a candidate if the institutions decide to raise the question of leadership, he replied that “my own personal political future is the last thing that concerns me. The first is how PASOK will stand on its feet and we will keep the world.”
For possible cooperation with the left but for it to happen it should be done in a way that the solutions will be clear.
