Statements by Nikos Papandreou, Pavlos Geroulanos, Michalis Katrini and Milena Apostolaki.
The debate for the next day has officially opened in PASOK, with the voices questioning the party’s president, Nikos Androulakis, increasing.
In the morning, Odysseas Konstantinopoulos, Member of Parliament for Arcadia of PASOK and vice-president of the Parliament, with his letter to the members of the political council of the partyrequested the acceleration of procedures for the election of new leadership in PASOK, first making an assessment of the election result for Harilaou Trikoupi.
There was an immediate reaction from Harilaou Trikoupi circles who replied that the schedule of internal party procedures will be followed to the letter in accordance with the statute.
This was followed by statements by executives who raised the issue of leadership in PASOK.
The party’s MEP Nikos Papandreou, who was elected first in the European elections with 123,294 crosses in his article in Proto Thema states: “Responsibilities in politics are objective. The responsibility rests with the de facto leadership and it is the one that was rejected by the body politic.”
He also emphasizes that “at this critical moment for our party, the floor must be given directly to the friends and members, the true basis of PASOK. The problems are growing and society cannot wait. History leaves the unwilling behind.”
Nikos Papandreou states that for “consecutive elections, micro-politics, personal and favoritism strategies prevailed. This led to divisions that ran through the party from the cadres to the base of its friends. None of this is consistent with PASOK’s values. The society knows this, which in the recent elections, rejected them in every way”.
THE Pavlos Geroulanos speaking in the morning to SKAI and asked about the Konstantinopoulos proposal he stated that “any written proposal that leads to the strengthening of the party is welcome”.
From the side of Michalis Katrinis he stated speaking to SKAI 100.3 that “no one is immune”, that “an open political discussion must be held immediately, without cannibalism”.
He pointed out meaningfully that “all executives fought a hard election battle and now express their anxiety about the faction”.
Statement for the next day to PASOK so did MP Milena Apostolaki, which expressed concern over the party’s limited rise in the European elections. “The world expects us to give birth to hope again” said Mrs. Apostolaki.
On the evening of the European elections, Nadia Giannakopoulou opened the debate on the issue of leadership in PASOK, commenting on the result to SKAI.
“We will discuss everything and everything, and when we say everything, we mean everything on the instruments. We have to discuss everything,” he said.
They take a position for the succession
And if not Nikos Androulakis, who? Although if the procedures for the election of a new PASOK leadership proceed, according to some information, Pavlos Geroulanos may express interest. Among the names rumored to be also likely to express interest in the eventual succession race are those of Manolis Christodoulakis and Pavlos Christidis.
At the same time, other information indicates that pressure is being exerted on Haris Doukas, but so far it is not clear whether these voices are heeding the newly elected mayor of Athens.
