The NATO it is not only a military alliance, it is an alliance of values ​​and principles, emphasized the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias in the statement on the sidelines of the Summit of the competent ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance, pointing out that “in this context, the most important thing is the observance of treaties, the observance of international law in interstate relations”. Nikos Dendias also had a short meeting with his Turkish counterpart Yasar Guler.

In particular, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias stated:

“We have today here in Brussels the NATO Ministerial Meeting, the preparation for the Summit in Washington next month. We discussed, as always, the strengthening, the deepening of NATO. For Greece, it is very important to always remember that NATO is not only a military alliance, it is an alliance of values ​​and principles. And in this context, the most important thing is the observance of treaties, the observance of international law in interstate relations.

From there, I had the opportunity to inform my colleagues about the efforts that Greece is making to modernize the armed forces, I referred to the creation of the Greek Innovation Center, the new effort to introduce innovation into the Greek armed forces, and I also had the opportunity to refer to the initiative of Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and Polish Prime Minister Tusk for the creation of the air defense canopy over Europe. Also, on the sidelines of the Defense Ministers’ Summit, I had a short meeting with my Turkish counterpart.”
