“The 13% is the result of our own struggle, without the support of vested interests and without a minting wind”
The president of PASOK took responsibility for the election result and the failure of the goal for second place. Nikos Androulakisduring his presentation at the meeting of the Political Bureau of the party at noon on Wednesday.
“We started a process by achieving the gradual rise of the faction. PASOK has complete program autonomy and political power. Taking the leadership I committed to political autonomy, renewal and perspective. We have all three, as long as we don’t tear down what we built with painstaking effort”, Mr. Androulakis initially pointed out, taking responsibility for the election result of the Eurocalp.
The president of PASOK then underlined:
“I accept any criticism of the result. But it is one thing to say that we did not rise percentageally as much as we would like, and another to present an image of collapse and destruction by taking the spotlight from the real losers of the elections. Mr. Mitsotakis had said that every ballot has his name on it and New Democracy suffered the biggest electoral defeat. I hear we lost to SYRIZA. Is it a defeat that the difference of 24 points, which separated us from SYRIZA, has become 2?”
“The 13% is the result of our own struggle, without the support of vested interests and without a minting wind”
“After twelve years, PASOK’s color returned to the electoral map and we are the second party in 19 regions. There was a narrative from the New Democracy, in which some of you also helped, that PASOK is losing the center and its decisions are a shift towards populism”, said Nikos Androulakis, while wondering:
“So how did we become the first party among centrist voters? We got 31%, New Democracy 21% and SYRIZA 8%. So, our central policy choices not only did not hurt the faction’s position in the political system, they strengthened it. PASOK must change its strategy in large urban centers. Let’s talk about it”.
Finally, he mentioned in his presentation that the problems are two: large urban centers and people outside the walls. PASOK must once again speak to the heart and soul of the poorest social strata.
“Today we are analyzing the election result in K.P.E. we decide the road map. At the Central Committee meeting at the end of the month, decisions will be made on the road map of whether and when a leadership election will be held and the party’s political action plan towards the national elections,” he concluded.
