Tones are rising in the PASOK-Movement for Change, with a scathing response from his colleagues Harry Doukas at Charilaou Trikoupi.

Elections for new PASOK leadership on November 3 and 10 earlier suggested by Harry Doukas with text – his intervention sent to the Secretary of KPE and the party’s Spokesman ahead of the PASOK Central Political Committee meeting on Sunday, June 30, with party sources commenting that “the mayor of Athens is unaware that on November 10, 2024, the date that proposes to conduct the second round of internal party elections, the marathon road will be held”.

“We inform you that the first round of elections for the leadership of the center-left has been held on November 12, 2017, the day of the Marathon. Mr. Androulakis himself participated in these elections as a candidate. In fact, then, haste is a bad adviser”, says the staff of the mayor of Athens.

“Haste is a bad counselor at all levels”

“Haste is a bad counselor at all levels”, his circles commented PASOK responding to Haris Doukas’ proposal for leadership election on November 3 and 10.

“The Central Political Committee of PASOK-Movement for Change will meet as known on Sunday, June 30 to decide the road map. Therefore, we would expect Mr. Doukas to come to the meeting of the body of which he is a member and present his views, and not to communicate them to PASOK-Movement for Change through the email of a third party” it is emphasized.

“However, the fact that the mayor of Athens is unaware that the marathon road will be held on November 10, 2024, the date he proposes for the second round of internal party elections, makes an impression,” noted Harilaou Trikoupi.

Doukas: Calls for elections for new PASOK leadership on November 3 and 10

The text of the mayor of Athens follows in detail:

“Dear Comrades,

On Sunday 30/06/2024 we have the crucial meeting of the Central Political Committee.
The goal of all of us is to discuss and co-decide the restart we need, so that PASOK – Movement for Change becomes the great force that will lead to the progressive governance of the country.

This presupposes creative discussion, without tensions and polarizations.

It is understandable that the work of the K.P.E. must be carried out with absolute transparency and democracy, without exclusions.

The fruitful discussion that I hope will take place needs to result in a road map for our next steps.

Specifically, I recommend:

1. Let’s celebrate the 50th anniversary of PASOK’s founding declaration on September 3.
2. To hold a Pan-Hellenic Conference, at the beginning of October, to discuss the political developments and the central political axes of our Movement, with the participation of representatives of our Movement and social bodies, as provided for in the statute.
3. Then let’s proceed in an orderly manner to the voting for the nomination by our members and friends of the new leadership of PASOK.

I propose that the vote be held on November 3 and 10, with the transparent and credible processes that took place in the 2017 and 2021 elections.

I believe that the road map ensures:

First: The possibility of a political debate on the necessary restart and reconstruction of PASOK-Movement for Change.
Second: The determination of leadership elections, at a time that does not allow long-term processes that lead to introversion.

I hope that we will all rise to the occasion and our responsibility towards the citizens and the country”.
