“The position of the president of SYRIZA is not the subject of a transaction, nor of change”, emphasized the member of the KE of the party
“The situation has derailed and if there is no appeasing initiative we will go to the rocks. Pure things,” said the SYRIZA Central Committee member to ERT Yannis Mazouranis about developments in the official opposition party.
He added that the initiative should not be from Mr. Kasselakis nor from Mr. Tsipras. As he explained “And I’ll tell you why. Initiative from other executives who are cooler. It takes composure. Politics is not a function of impulse. Those who act impulsively in politics do not end well.”
“Mr. Kasselakis was elected president by thousands of SYRIZA members with a specific mandate: to defeat Mitsotakis, to expand and grow SYRIZA. Not to support or resist introversion. Mr. Tsipras resigned voluntarily. No one kicked him out. In addition, the position of the president of SYRIZA is not subject to transaction or change.
“It’s not a ‘come and I’ll give you my place and I’ll be a soldier or stop undermining me’ item. If there is evidence that he is being undermined by Mr. Tsipras, in fact, he should directly come out and say I have this, this and this evidence. It cannot be identified Alexis Tsipras with movements of SYRIZA members, SYRIZA executives, who were once or are now close to him. Whatever Mr. Tsipras wants, he says directly himself.”
Also, it should be made clear to everyone that politics, political dialogue, political confrontation or political conflict, which is usual in parties, but especially in the parties of the Left and the center-left, is not done with leaks, nor with facebook, with posts ».
He added that “the dialogue takes place in the institutions or in public with statements[…] The bodies will convene next Saturday and I tell you that there will be a battle[…] At this moment it should be made clear that Mr. Tsipras has neither declared nor expressed in any way his intention to come back and become president of SYRIZA. So, what is mentioned about a comeback “come and I will resign and you take over” does not correspond to reality. Nor does the current president, Mr. Kasselakis, have the right to hand over his position to someone else, because he was not appointed by someone else. We elected him 150,000 […]».
At another point he said “O SYRIZA he comes out wounded by electoral defeats, by splits. And indeed there are different approaches, as there are in all parties. Whether we will eventually manage to coexist, whether we will manage to compose, is a bet that we have to win for the citizens who stayed loyal to the European elections and gave us a decent percentage, not our goal, but a decent percentage for them too who sweat every day to support SYRIZA”.
“The situation is at the limit, at the limit of resistance not only of the executives, at the limit of resistance of the people who support us. They don’t deserve it. They don’t deserve this behavior. The thousands of members who remain loyal to a wounded, to a multi-traumatized SYRIZA, we cannot upset it like this, in this way, every three or so times. Everyone should realize their responsibilities[…] And especially the one who received the trust of the people, we elected him president for three years and no one can bring him down unless he resigns.” he underlined and continued by saying that “we can’t be looking for another president every three or so times. We have a president, but that doesn’t mean we won’t criticize him. It doesn’t mean we’ll trust him no matter what he does. So far no question of no confidence has been raised against him. Mr. Kasselakis has a specific mandate and must respect and implement it. To grow SYRIZA, unite SYRIZA, reorganize SYRIZA, take initiatives to reconstitute the Center Left and defeat Mitsotakis[…] If he doesn’t do what we say, we’re here. Here we are again.”
