On Monday, Milena Apostolaki and Michalis Katrinis announced their candidacy
More and more the number of candidates who are thrown into the “dance” of claiming the leadership of PASOKas after the announcement of their nominations to the Central Committee of the party by Nikos Androulakishim Harry Doukas and the Pavlos Gerulanoon Monday morning, the “green” member of parliament announced her own candidacy with her announcement Milena Apostolakiwhile a few hours later he did the same Michalis Katrinis.
“PASOK can once again become the progressive majority body and that must be our goal. This will be my goal, as I pointed out at the meeting of the Central Committee, and I will fight for it,” Mrs. Apostolaki points out in her statement.
“My goal is for PASOK to respond to the mature request of the progressive citizens for an alternative governance proposal,” emphasizes Mr. Katrinis through a letter he published.
It is recalled that Nikos Androulakis suggested internal party elections on October 6 and 13 during its meeting Central Committee of PASOK, thus relieving for the time being the climate of polarization that prevailed after the European elections.
“On June 9, an unprecedented harakiri began in the faction. It is my duty to ensure unity and perspective. It is clear that PASOK will not be drawn into division and introversion. This debate was not started by me, but I have a responsibility as president to close it as soon as possible. I will not become a hostage to anyone inside and outside PASOK. I recommend that the elections be held on October 6th and the second round, if necessary, on October 13th and an open KE three weeks before for the presentation of nominations.”
The president of PASOK was sharp, speaking of a “catwalk of personal ambitions in the party, you leave, let me come because I will do it better, without there being another plan, another point of view, a strategic agreement”.
“”Present” in the process of electing the president of PASOK declared Haris Doukas, stating “I will be present in this effort with PASOK, as I have been throughout my public career” said Mr. Doukas and continued saying:
“I’m not hiding, I’m not afraid, I’m coming forward and asking for your support. Let’s go win now. The goal is not to win Kasselakis, but to defeat ND in the next national elections. We don’t need messiahs, we want leadership that will put ‘together’ into practice.”
Mr. Doukas reiterated that in any case he will remain mayor of Athens “it is a mutual advantage, it is a European acquis.”
At the same time, he noted that it is time “to reopen the cycle of transcendence. Not in a new cycle of introversion and discord. Yes, in a party of members, not executives and mechanisms.”
As expected, Pavlos Geroulanos also announced his candidacy for the leadership of PASOK.
In particular, speaking at the party’s Central Committee, Mr. Geroulanos said:
“It will be my honor to claim the vote of my members and friends. I am asking to lead the charge to present a plan that will become a social majority. And I ask to lead the responsibility of unity. Design, for society. A party that listens to society. Unity with perspective. The triple responsibility I commit to.
How the internal party alliances in the “green” camp are being formed so far
As is known, PASOK’s state deputy has taken the side of Nikos Androulakis, Panagiotis Doudoniswhile in favor of the mayor of Athens a clear position has been taken by Odysseus Konstantinopoulosas well as Manolis Christodoulakiswho has officially invited Mr. Doukas to a joint meeting in view of the internal party process.
It remains a question mark how top executives of Harilaou Trikoupis will act, such as the former prime minister George Papandreou, the Nadia Giannakopoulou, The Pavlos ChristidisThe Kostas SkandalidisThe Petros Efthymiou and others, with the coming weeks being useful in terms of clarifying the internal party landscape and forming the “camps” for the emergence of a new president.
