Many times in SYRIZA predictions of a stormy meeting of the party’s Central Committee were dashed. In turbulent times the convening of the top governing body had acted as a defuser in relation to the trends and disagreements that had been recorded. It will all depend today from suggestion of Stefanos Kasselakis. Is the president of SYRIZA hiding a surprise or will he make a unifying speech like on Thursday at the Political Secretariat?

THE majority would bet on the latter considering that the leader of the official opposition wishes to give end to introversion in the party and has now set as horizon the constitutional conference which will probably take place at the end of September. It is considered certain that he does not intend to open his papers in relation to the organizational changes he is preparing, with some considering that they may also be “cosmogenic” by radically changing the physiognomy of SYRIZA.

At the opposite end are the “87” who, according to information, were meeting yesterday in order to determine their position. They are not expected to escape from the strict framework they set in yesterday’s meeting: harsh criticism about the result of the European elections, the attitude of Stefanos Kasselakis and the non-meeting of the bodies. They will also make their mark on the center-left while waiting for the president’s position.

The balances will be critical with the “87” wishing to show that they have increased forces in the 301 of the Central Committee.

It is a summer that hides many “secrets” and they are expected developments in its wider area center left. The battle for PASOK’s leadership is in full swing with the “crosstalks” intensifying day by day, while also in SYRIZA the bad election result has awakened the dissenters. Koumoundourou is carefully monitoring what is happening in Harilaou Trikoupi, as who will be elected president will largely determine the developments for the possible unification of the parties in the area. Even “centrifugal forces” cannot be ruled out to record the result accordingly.

Stefanos Kasselakis still a fan of hers autonomous course of SYRIZA, while Nikos Androulakis had also shown that he is moving along this line.

In mid-September, the Central Committee of PASOK will be asked to approve the nominations and until then there is enough time for new nominations. Although it is still very early, the opinion polls already show a duel between Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas for the leadership of the party.
