The European Parliament bids farewell to Marietta Giannakou, who passed away yesterday at the age of 71, with a moving video.

Marietta Giannakou was an MEP in three different terms from 1984 to 1990, from 1999 to 2000 and from 2009 to 2014.

“What we need is a real European government in which, however, the citizens will not be left out,” Marietta Giannakou can be heard saying in the video, which also contains a series of photos from the first years of her presence in the European Parliament.
