“The talks about cooperation in the Center-Left are hopeless at the moment, people prefer to hear solutions to their daily problems”
To and to “Today” his candidate for president was a guest PASOK, Pavlos Geroulanoswho spoke both about Harilaou Trikoupi’s internal party developments, and about the debate surrounding Center left.
“What is being said about the Center-Left is completely in the wrong direction, because no one is saying how. Talking about a fantasy scenario, you see, takes the conversation away from the problems of the world. These are absolutely conversations of desperation or at least anticipation for something new,” Mr. Geroulanos initially pointed out, arguing that what people prefer to hear are solutions to everyday problems, such as accuracy.
At the same time, he referred both to the importance of a different administrative model on his part, which would alleviate inequalities, and to “the experience I have of reaching out to others who can implement the agenda I propose.” He also added that he knows the market well, at the same time expressing his optimism that the turnout for the internal party process for new leadership in PASOK will be large.
“If our electoral base votes for Nikos Androulakis, it means that the latter will have convinced that his defects that we highlighted, can be changed. Obviously we should be behind him to support him”, argued Mr. Geroulanos, clarifying that if he himself becomes the leader of PASOK, he will open it up to all progressive forces.
“PASOK’s attitude towards the university bill is correct – Reduce the VAT on basic necessities”
In addition, Pavlos Geroulanos underlined that the party’s attitude towards the issue with universities was correct, adding that the Minister of Education Kyriakos Pierrakakis has changed his position drastically in relation to the commitments he had made on the bill. “We never went back and forth. What we said is that any market opening in a country with a thirst for degrees, must be done gradually with an evaluation of the degrees”, as he characteristically noted.
As for financiallymade it clear that VAT should be reduced on essentials because it is the first relief measure that “hits” the point, since it “gives you the confidence that you can stand on your own two feet, as opposed to the passes that make you think you are in a process of almsgiving”.
