The drivers and owners are going on a 24-hour strike today, Thursday cab in Athens.

The strike started at 6 am and will end at 6 am on Friday, with taxi drivers and owners holding a rally at the junction of Spyros Patsis and Kavala streets at 9:30 am.

According to a statement by SATA, the decision on the strike mobilization is unanimous, requesting the immediate withdrawal of the amendment of the Ministry of Tourism. It is noted that the amendment – among other things – foresees the carrying out of checks to establish the violation of drivers who carry out tourist transports.

The SATA in its statement states that “The government shows in every way its willingness to expropriate our profession by supporting oligopolies and multinationals in every way”.

“The government did not understand the message of June 9 that the industry and the Greek people gave it. It continues unabated the task of flattening an entire industry in favor of the cartels” he emphasizes and calls the entire industry “to the battle. We are defending our work, our lives and our future!”

The full announcement reads as follows:

“In a GLOBAL PROTOTYPE, he wants to prohibit by law the cross-checking of elements that the controlling authorities are constitutionally entitled to exercise both on the drivers of the specific vehicles and on the passengers being transported.
