The removal of Pavlos Polakis from SYRIZA was requested by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, after the televised confrontation that the SYRIZA MP had with Maria Syregela.

“Mr. Polakis said unacceptable characterizations against a political opponent, a woman, a person who happens to be in another party. These are characterizations that refer to extreme parties and because SYRIZA is very sensitive to the deletion of ministers, we ask Mr. Kasselakis to take a stand and delete Polakis,” Mr. Marinakis said in Mega.

Mr. Polakis had verbally attacked Ms. Syregela, asking her to “go and do some work”… “We are not afraid of you, neither when you speak, nor when you threaten us! When you speak, you will speak with evidence”, the ND secretary answered him speaking to Attica TV.

“The deep underestimation of women it is the root of patriarchy which the Left is supposed to be fighting” commented the Minister of Social Cohesion Sophia Zacharakis on her Facebook account.

“The ‘job’ to which the former minister and SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis derogatorily refers is the one that keeps families and Greek society afloat. Mr. Polakis did not vulgarly insult Maria Maria Syregela but every Greek woman who struggles every day. Against stereotypes, underestimation and questioning. Against everyone who perceives it, as the SYRIZA MP added.
