“Nevertheless, let Mr. Polakis and SYRIZA not forget that in New Democracy we have never been afraid, nor will we be afraid of brazen political thugs”
The Secretary of the Political Committee of the New Democracy, Maria Syregela, made a statement, after the severe attack she received on a broadcast by Pavlos Polakis.
“Last night on a TV show, the MP for Chania from SYRIZA, Mr. Polakis, attacked me and after first asking me to “go do some work”, then with his well-known thug style, he told me to “shut it up”!
Obviously I don’t expect either from Mr. Kasselakis to condemn the behavior of Mr. Polakis or to demonstrate his alleged social sensitivity by deleting him. It is clear that in SYRIZA, regardless of the leadership, “polarization” is the official expression of the wretchedness with which they cover their political inadequacy.
However, in the name of all women who receive or have heard similar insults, I call on my colleagues in the Greek Parliament, as well as the Rights and Equality sectors of both SYRIZA and all parties to take a clear position and raise our voices together against the “willful”.
Insults, misogyny and toxic attacks they have no place not only in Parliament or in the political “arena”, but above all in society.
However, let Mr. Polakis and SYRIZA not forget that in New Democracy we were never afraid, nor are we going to fear brazen political thugs.”
The removal of Pavlos Polakis from SYRIZA was requested by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, after the televised confrontation that the SYRIZA MP had with Maria Syregela.
“The deep underestimation of women it is the root of patriarchy which the Left is supposed to be fighting” commented the Minister of Social Cohesion Sophia Zacharakis on her Facebook account.
