The fourth meeting of the European Political Community at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, will be attended by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday, July 18. Its host will be the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The leaders participating in the Summit of the European Political Community (in total, heads of state and government from 47 countries have been invited) will be concerned with the defense and safeguarding of democracy, energy and connectivity and immigration, topics that will be discussed in respective round tables.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will participate in a round table about her defending and safeguarding democracy. On the same panel will be, among others, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

The Summit of the European Political Community, which will take place on British soil, will be the first step of a European organization from which the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, a few days after his first international appearance at the NATO Summit in Washingtonwill have the opportunity to address European leaders.

The new prime minister of Britain said that this meeting is indicative the start of the UK’s closer relationship with its European neighbours: “I said I would change the way the UK engages with our European partners by working together to make progress on these challenges of our generation and that work starts at the European Political Community meeting on Thursday.” he reported.

The British government stresses that the summit comes at a time of major challenges for Europe, from Russian aggression to immigration.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be absent from the Summit, as the crucial vote for her re-election to the office is being held at noon on Thursday in the Plenary Session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
