The newly founded far-right European group Patriotes, the third largest group of the European Parliament, will vote against Ursula von der Leyen, its president Jordan Bardela announced to the MEPs, which is not surprising, as Politico comments.

During the European elections, voters said they rejected “punitive ecology”, “mass immigration” and “inflation of rules”, the French far-right leader said, attacking the Green Deal and the Pact on Migration and Asylum , both “creations” of von der Leyen.

“Our future depends on sovereignty, and the search for strategic autonomy for Europe and our nations,” Bardella added, calling on all MEPs to ensure that von der Leyen has only one term.

“Patriots for Europe” was founded at the end of June and also includes MEPs from the Hungarian Prime Minister’s party Viktor OrbanFidesz.

Apart from the National Rally and Fidesz, the other members of the group are:

– Lega (Italy): 8 MEPs

– ANO (Czech Republic): 7 MEPs

– Oath and Motorists (Czech Republic): 2 MEPs

– FPÖ (Austria): 6 MEPs

– PVV (Netherlands): 6 MEPs

– VOX (Spain): 6 MEPs

– Vlaams Belang (Flanders, Belgium): 3 MEPs

– CHEGA (Portugal): 2 MEPs

– Danish People’s Party (Denmark): 1 MEP

– Voice of Reason (Greece): 1 MEP (Latinopoulou)

– First Latvia (Latvia): 1 MEP
