The Prime Minister’s first reaction to the re-election of Ursula von der Leyen

With the news of Ursula von der Leyen’s re-election, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made a congratulatory statement during the meeting he had with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the sidelines of the European Political Community:

I have just been informed that Ursula von der Leyen has been re-elected President of the European Commission with a very strong majority. It is something that makes us very happy. I was one of the negotiators on her behalf. I believe that her leadership will contribute stability and continuity but also a clear emphasis on the Western Balkans to bring them closer to Europe, which I consider particularly important at a time which, from a geopolitical point of view, is full of challengess”.
