References to Cyprus, the Aegean and the Mediterranean include the final communique that was released after the session of the National Security Council of Turkey chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In the sixth paragraph of the announcement “it is noted that the climate of peace, tranquility and security that has prevailed throughout Cyprus for half a century thanks to the peace operation carried out by Turkey within the framework of international agreements and in its capacity as a guarantor country has undoubtedly confirmed before of History the legitimacy and success of the business”.

In the same paragraph it is added: “It is emphasized that our decisive position will be maintained for the solution of the Cyprus issue, which is our national issue, for a two-state solution on the basis of sovereign equality and the equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people and the recognition of the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” as an equal member of the international community”.

With reference to the developments in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, in the seventh paragraph of the announcement it is noted that during the meeting of the Turkish National Council: “It was emphasized that our constructive approach, which prioritizes dialogue on the issues of the Aegean and the Mediterranean, will not allowed to be exploited and pointed out that the uncompromising practice of defending our rights and interests will continue.
