The parliamentary “fight” between the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, and the independent MP, Pavlos Polakis, triggered a new cycle of tension in the Plenary Chamber
Pavlos Polakis and Adonis Georgiadis clashed once again during today’s session of the Parliament.
The now independent member of parliament unleashed “fire” against everyone after his deletion from the SYRIZA-PS KO.
“You failed to deport me. I am here. I will be here. Stronger. I will be SYRIZA”, Pavlos Polakis characteristically said starting his speech.
At the same time, addressing, indirectly but not clearly, the internal party opposition of SYRIZA, he stated “I want to say a big thank you to the thousands of people who did not allow what happened the day before yesterday to happen. It is the real wall of protection of what I represent. That is, of the irreconcilable battle against entanglement. This country deserves and can do better for its children and that will be done by redistribution in favor of wage labor, small and medium peasant youth against 80 families that drink the blood of citizens. This plan I serve. This world didn’t bite yesterday.”
Referring again to his associate Adonis Georgiadis he said: “when you can’t dispute the substance then you set up provocations for the style. The lady is not here today (s.s. the employee of the Ministry of Health). What he did was not the first time. I have made a remark to her in the past. He did it the day before yesterday, laughing when I was talking about the Filiatron health center. I told her what I said and the episode ended and then backfired with time delay crying obviously staged and hypocritical.’
Mr. Polakis also attacked the Speaker of the Parliament Costa Tasoula. “The President called me a vulgar attention seeker. I come from a place that respects women. I grew up with women, teachers. My whole family has many educated people the majority have university degrees. I don’t tolerate anyone calling me a vulgar attention seeker. I demand from the speaker of the Parliament, after the admission of Mrs. Petroulias that she does not have a health problem – there was the provocation that I attacked a stroke sufferer who could not defend herself – to apologize,” he said.
He also unleashed “fire” on Athina Linou for her reaction to his indecent behavior, speaking of “a cry… of a time delay, clearly hypocritical, clearly staged”.
Concluding his initial statement, Mr. Polakis referred to the energy upgrade of the Philiatron Health Center, arguing that the relevant contract is scandalous. “You failed to deport me. I am and will be here stronger. I will be SYRIZA. This time it’s not the pandemic you’ve cornered them in. Now you are feeding a piece of 5-10 contractors who are not a majority,” he said.
Adonis Georgiadis: “You are a coward”
For his part, the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, responded to Pavlos Polakis, calling the independent MP a “coward”.
“That’s who you’ve always been. A coward. This is what Mr. Kasselakis judged and he kindly deleted you because SYRIZA is supposed to be fighting for workers’ rights. Leave the health issues out. You bullied a worker and did not apologise,” said the Minister of Health.
He accused Pavlos Polakis that by rescheduling his speech to the Parliament, which was supposed to take place yesterday and artificially postponing it for today, what he seeks is to get a fourth postponement of the trial. “Mr. Polakis told us that he is standing here. Interesting. Except he wasn’t supposed to be here. It should be in Of hope to defend himself against the lawsuit brought against him by Mrs. Arabatzi. Polakis told us that he loves women and that he is an uncompromising fighter against entanglement. Listen now. Mrs. Arabatzi sued him for defamation. His immunity came and in the first court he declared sick, then that his lawyer has covid and then in the 3rd he changed his lawyer and that the new one had not had time to be informed” he said and emphasized: “This is the uncompromising fighter of corruption, who honors against the others women and Crete. Alas if the Cretans were so cowardly…”.
Regarding the attack on his colleague, he said that “since yesterday, Mr. Polakis has been asking us to apologize because my colleague did not have a health problem. I don’t understand, our obligation to treat partners with respect depends on whether they have a health problem? The reason Mr. Kasselakis deleted even half of you was that with your behavior you made 2 people cry. Everyone understood what they would pull if they had you as an employer. Everyone hates you because what you did to Petrolia you did to your workers. That’s who you’ve always been. A coward. This is what Mr. Kasselakis judged and he kindly deleted you because SYRIZA is supposed to be fighting for the rights of workers. Leave the health issues out. You bullied a female worker and didn’t apologize.”
For the project of the Philiatrian Health Center, the minister said that the competition was international, by TAIPED and the notice was uploaded on the European platform of EDISY. All scheduled times were met. According to the TAIPED study, the cost per square meter of construction is lower than that of the Sfakia Health Center. The odd tenders are not the ones that have a small discount but instead the ones that have a large discount as the contractor comes later and asks for revisions to complete the project. And small discounts are prohibited by Law.
Pavlos Polakis countered that “I will not follow you in the insults – because that is what you are doing now – so that the ball goes to the platform”. He described Adonis Georgiadis “as the absolute liar in relation to Filiatra and Safakia (in. the respective Health Centers) as Safakia was built from scratch and we equipped it with 570,000 euros while in Filiatra you give 1,750 million euros to make thermal insulation instead of 450,000 euros. And he said, you didn’t answer.
Regarding public works, he said that “now with the Law, the contractors agree with each other on who will get one or the other project”.
