Speaking to executives and friends of the Movement tonight in Chios, the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, underlined the collapse of the National Health System under the New Democracy.

In the wake of complaints from Samos doctors that the hospital is operating at its limits, with the most typical example being the only pediatrician hospitalized in Athens with stroke symptoms due to the exhausting hours, Mr. Androulakis noted:

We are going through the second four years of New Democracy and Mr. Mitsotakis. His main commitment when he took the 40 billion of the Recovery Fund, which was essentially given for public health, was that he would do everything in his power to ensure better conditions in the National Health System. And instead, the NHS collapses».

Unfortunately, no one expected that after the end of the memorandums and fiscal commitments, the welfare state would deteriorateadded Mr. Androulakis.

He summarized the facts of the governance of the New Democracy by emphasizing: “In the economy oligarchs and in the institutions absolute decline. The same as the previous ones and worse. That’s why the people dropped them by 13% in one year and instead of SYRIZA rising with a new leader, it fell by 9% from the previous European elections and 3% from the previous national electionss”.

He made extensive reference to electricity price hikes, increases in food prices and ferry tickets.

Against the background of the new disaster in Attica from the fires, Mr. Androulakis pointed out that “in the last five years, every time Greece presses the rescEU button, hundreds of firefighters, dozens of air and ground vehicles come for free. It is a result of my legislative work in the European Parliament. You don’t hear about it in the media. They would say it every day if it was the work of Mr. Mitsotakis».

New Democracy came promising to counter the weakness of SYRIZA. It was all communication, image and based on fear of the worst. I address the Greek people, -and in October for our internal issues-: do not choose fear. Choose hope, plan, morals and trustworthiness” he added.

Mr. Androulakis, evaluating the result of the European elections, pointed out that “we fought a fight with dignity, with a good ballot, with a specific program, without populism, with seriousness. Even though the people did not take us where we wanted, they honored us again. In fact, we managed to be the second party cumulatively throughout Greece, except for Athens».

I don’t want a PASOK that will fall into the old behaviors that hurt the world. Here, too, from Chios, I give a clear answer: my great anxiety is not only when PASOK will become a government, but when we become a government, to never again hurt the Greek people and the relationship of trust that we are steadily building, with great effort and great fight, -and with almost all the media facing us-, not to be lostadded the President of PASOK-Movement for Change.

Our political line must not change. Progress, right reason, responsibility. People will not return to PASOK with easy populism. People will not return to PASOK if they see entering our meetings those who just lost their ministerial position in PASOK, became ministers of SYRIZA or New Democracy, and now want to find a “chair” again. PASOK will not grow like this, quite the opposite» underlined features.
