Attles was a legend for the Golden State team, having spent his entire career with the Warriors. Specifically, he fought from in 1960 until 1971when the team was still playing in Philadelphiawhile he then moved to San Francisco.
From 1970 to 1983 he was the coach of the Warriorsleading them to conquest of the 1975 championship and even became the second African-American coach to receive the ring after the also legendary, Bill Russell.
To this day, Al Atlas has the record of victories on the bench of the “fighters” with 557who have retired the number “16” in his honor.
Overall, Atlas offered his services to the Warriors for 60 yearsstarting as a player of course and then as a coach, general manager and team ambassador.
