“The hospital of Lemnos in the last 4 years has made great progress with 91% coverage of its staff”, said the minister and emphasized that “in general, the image that some people went to create of an island that does not have a hospital and a hospital which is collapsing, is completely false and does not correspond to reality.’

The Minister of Health, accompanied by the General Secretary of Health Services Lilian Vildiridis, the Commander of the 2nd Health Region Christos Roilos and the president of EINAP Matina Pagonis, visited Lemnos.

The operation of the Hospital was the subject of a meeting held at the General Hospital of Lemnos under Mr. Georgiadis. The General Secretary of Health Services Lilian Vildiridis, the Commander of the 2nd Health Region Christos Roilos, the Commander of G.N. Limnos, as well as employee representatives.

The minister was informed about the problems and the possibilities that exist for solving them.

“The hospital of Lemnos in the last 4 years has made great progress with 91% coverage of its staff. She has gotten an oncologist she never had. It has a new artificial kidney unit with brand new machines, as a result of which it can serve patients with kidney problems at an unprecedentedly high rate for the data of this island, which it has never had in history,” said the Minister of Health after the meeting at the Hospital.

He announced that the new regulation will be approved immediately “so that we can bring two additional pathologists to the island to complete its pathology department. With the new incentives, we are announcing the positions of the cardiologist, the radiologist and the General surgeon, so that we can complete these specialties as well.”

Mr. Georgiadis also met with the Mayor of Lemnos, Eleonora Georgas, and the Prefect of Lemnos, Apostolos Koutsoyiannis, and as he mentioned, the implementation of the incentive law was discussed so that “doctors can have an additional greater comfort in their effort to move to a unspoiled island like Lemnos.

In the month of September, we will also have our legislative initiatives for the various scientific incentives that the Panhellenic Medical Association and OENGE have asked us to make even more favorable the decision of a new doctor to come to an uncritical island like Lemnos”.

The minister thanked the administration of the hospital, for the good work these 4 years and the medical and nursing staff who keep this hospital at a high level.
