The ND MEP calls for immediate intervention, so that “the single market operates with more competition and transparency
A question “about the unreasonably high prices of multinational companies”, submitted, today Tuesday, to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyenthe ND MEP, George Autias.
As noted in the relevant announcement, in his question, Mr. Avtias recalls the letter sent last May by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Mrs. von der Leyen, requesting “immediate intervention” so that “the single market operates with more competition and transparency in favor of consumers, for a Europe that improves the standard of living of its citizens” and emphasizes that “the EU has been too late in solving this problem”, in an issue that “primarily concerns Greece, Greek consumers but also countries , such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Luxembourg and Slovakia’.
Based on these data, the ND MEP asks the European Commission “how and when it will solve the problem and if it intends to intervene with fines on multinationals that profit profitably at the expense of the Greek and European consumer”, as stated in the relevant announcement.
Specifically, he asks the president of the European Commission “how and when will the problem of unjustifiably different high prices of multinational companies, in basic goods in Greece and in other countries, be solved” and “with what interventions will you protect consumers from the arbitrariness of multinational giants and unfair trade practices”.
