The Minister of National Economy and Finance expressed his strong annoyance in a long post on Facebook, Kostis Hatzidakisregarding the comments expressed by opposition circles regarding its course Greek economy.

“Hey guys! We never claimed that Greece suddenly became rich, that it became Switzerland and Sweden. But even this attempt by some to show us that, instead of going forward, we are going backwards and that we will soon become like some countries in Africa, fails!” said Mr. Hatzidakis, adding:

“We said, yes, there is accuracy, just like across Europe and America. There are big wounds from the last decade. There is still a long way to go. But we weren’t elected to miraculously change everything overnight. We were elected, with a realistic program, to improve the situation as much as possible.

At the same time, the minister tried to prove that “Greece has been moving forward in the last five years” by citing official tables with detailed statistics.

Specifically, as he noted:

“- Greece is in the 1st place in reducing the unemployment rate than any other EU country.
– Greece is in 1st place in the percentage increase in the volume of investments.
– Greece is in 1st place in the reduction of the public debt ratio in terms of GDP.
– Greece is in the 1st place in the increase of share in the world exports of goods.
– Greece is in the 1st position in increasing the level of competition, as defined and measured by the OECD.
– Greece is in 1st place in terms of the reduction of the yield difference (spread) against the German ten-year bond.
– Greece is the country with the lowest cumulative inflation in the whole EU. Even in food inflation, which is indeed a serious issue, the problem is slightly less than the EU average (25.8% increase against 26.1% )”
