Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to TIF began with his presence at the consecration for the opening of the 88th International Exhibition of Thessaloniki and a tour of the exhibition stands.

The consecration was officiated by Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki, who, addressing Mr. Mitsotakis, noted: “We thank you for working together with your colleagues for the good of our country.”

The 88th TIF, in which Germany is the honored country, will be inaugurated tonight, at 7.30 pm, by the Prime Minister and the German Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habeck.

Immediately after the consecration, the prime minister met with the president of TIF-Helexpo Tassos Tzikas and the members of the company’s management.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had a meeting with German Vice Chancellor Robert Hambeck. During the meeting, issues of European and bilateral interest were discussed with an emphasis on the economy, energy and immigration.

Mr. Habeck congratulated Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the performance of the Greek economy. The Prime Minister noted that Greece had the second highest growth rate in the EU during the second quarter of 2024 and reiterated that his goal is to further increase the disposable income of Greeks.

Regarding climate change, Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated that Europe must do more to adapt to climate change and to deal with natural disasters.

In the energy debate he underlined the importance of more European energy networks and interconnections, as there are distortions affecting the overall price of electricity.

With regard to the common European immigration challenge, the Prime Minister reiterated that Greece implements a strict but fair immigration policy.
