The PASOK leadership candidate stated that there is no strategy and policy for tourism – The measures she analyzed for the issue of water scarcity
The Prime Minister’s presence at the TIF was commented on by the PASOK leadership candidate, Anna Diamantopoulou, speaking on Monday morning to SKAI 100.3 and Aris Portosalte.
“What we saw yesterday is again a series of measures of a budget of 3.5 billion and we did not hear a composed policy that will lead anywhere. This way of politics, firstly, brought us to bankruptcy, secondly, it does not give the country the opportunity to develop on specific issues,” said Mrs. Diamantopoulou.
He also referred both to his issue hypertourism as well as her water shortage. Regarding hypertourism he said that it is presented as a phenomenon that does not allow the further development of tourism when there is no one strategy and one policy.
As he said in areas like Halkidiki and Kavala, a different kind of policy must be drawn up.
“In Halkidiki we have road tourism from Bulgaria. We have mass purchases of houses by Bulgarians who themselves rent them to Bulgarians without a single euro coming into the country. That is where an excellent control and a plan is needed,” emphasized Mrs. Diamantopoulou.
About the islands and its problem water shortage that exists pointed out that “we have a complete inability to implement water policy. The water policy in Europe has been started since 2004 and the Recovery Fund gives priority to the environmental, i.e. water”.
Mrs. Diamantopoulou analyzed a number of measures to be taken in order to limit the problem, such as digitally monitoring pipelines that lose up to 40% of water, new ways to digitally monitor irrigation, tourism policy on what kind of water is used.
He also underlined that Italy and Slovenia are the first countries that used money from the fund for the specific water policy, like other countries, but Greece is not among them.
