The PASOK-KINAL leadership candidate claims that “the government’s argument about reducing inflation is refuted”
Sharp criticism Anna Diamantopoulou, candidate for the leadership of PASOK-Movement of Change, asked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his report to the TIF that “he confidently believes that inflation will be decreasing in our country”.
The reason is the ELSTAT data on inflation, which Mrs. Diamantopoulou cites and states that “destroyed his narrative: inflation rose by 3% compared to the previous month. The prime minister has now stopped trying to hide how out of touch his government is with reality.”
As the candidate for the PASOK-KINAL leadership says, “the government’s argument about reducing inflation is refuted, while the annual figures are even more disheartening:
- 5.5% increase in housing
- olive oil +49%, cereals +11.2%.
- 14% increase in health insurance premiums, because the NHS is being downgraded and the government itself is sending sky-high profits to the insurance companies, without a corresponding tax, while watching them skyrocket the premiums without any intervention.”
“Insurance premiums, housing, olive oil and grains are driven by domestic factors. They are not imported increases. What did the government do for a year to de-escalate the situation?” Mrs. Diamantopoulou noted and added:
“- Why didn’t he use even one of the tens of thousands of closed public properties to alleviate the housing crisis?
– Why didn’t he implement the KEPE proposal to create an Artificial Intelligence application for mobile phones that will compare the prices of products in supermarkets on a daily basis and suggest the most advantageous options?
– Since we are doing so well in de-escalating inflation, why did you change the responsible minister K. Skrekas just 3 months ago, thus recognizing the government’s failure in managing the biggest social problem?”.
In conclusion, Anna Diamantopoulou emphasized:
“In Europe, they are discussing the Draghi report on competitiveness, and here the prime minister’s compensation policy is a major issue, as well as the increased by 7 euros per week compensation for night work for uniformed officers.
Citizens need a comprehensive plan that will confidently lead the country to a new productive model, not a bonus policy for fear of opinion polls.”
