Stefanos Kasselakis proceeded to revoke the power of attorney he had granted to Christos Mavrokephalidis, general director of SYRIZA, for all the “general and special orders” he had given him.

The revocation, which took place on Friday, i.e. one day after the stormy meeting of the Political Secretariat, was done by “deed of revocation of proxy” (legal document).

The authorization to Mr. Mavrokephalidis was given last April.

Mr. Kasselakis’ entourage raises the question “after Mr. Mavrokephalidis’ power of attorney was revoked, under whose signature does the party operate today?” Based on article 44 of the statute, only the president can give authorization”.

The statute provides for the following:

Article 44 – Management of the party’s finances

“The Central Committee is responsible for the management of the party’s finances, appoints the Financial Officer and the Financial Committee that prepares the annual budget and monitors the progress of the party’s finances. The budget is approved by the Central Committee. The Central Committee may also adopt, as long as it is deemed necessary and after a proposal from the Finance Officer and the Finance Committee, a special regulation regarding the details of the management of the party’s finances.

The conclusion and signing of contracts (credit agreement through an open mutual account, loan agreement, pledge agreement) with financial institutions, or other forms of collateral, the pre-notification or mortgaging of real estate, as well as the receipt and use of the financing product is the responsibility of the president , who is entitled to appoint other proxies, to whom he will transfer the same or fewer of the above orders.

The president is also entitled to appoint a proxy or proxies to carry out actions related to the management and operational needs of the party.

The congress elects a 7-member Financial Control Committee that has the responsibility of controlling the management of the party’s finances.”
